La leucemia infantil supone el 30% del cáncer infantil y es una enfermedad que le toca vivir a tres de cada 100.000 niños. De ellos, el 20% no la supera. Las estadísticas son las mismas desde hace más de 20 años. Sólo hay una forma de cambiarlas: a través de la investigación.
Penélope Cruz, junto a la Fundación Unoentrecienmil y VICEROY, nos ofrecen una fotografía de la realidad de esta enfermedad, cómo afecta a las vidas de los niños que la padecen, sus hermanos, su familia, su entorno. La directora nos propone este viaje alrededor de una mesa, una comida donde padres de niños que han padecido esta enfermedad comparten sus vivencias.
“Soy Unoentrecienmil” tiene como objetivo principal la sensibilización sobre la importancia de la investigación para acabar con la enfermedad. Niños que han pasado por esta ella, familiares, médicos e investigadores nos demuestran que con muy poco de muchos podría cambiarse el mundo.

Childhood leukemia, which accounts for 30% of childhood cancer, affects the lives of three in every 100,000 children. Of those affected, 20% do not survive, and these statistics have remained unchanged for over 20 years. But there’s a way we can improve this outcome: through research.
Director Penélope Cruz, with the support of the Unoentrecienmil Foundation and VICEROY, offers us a glimpse of the reality of childhood leukemia – how it alters the lives of afflicted children, along with that of their siblings, their families, and others around them. Her examination begins around a table, at a meal where parents of children who have suffered this disease come together to share their experience.
The primary objective of “Soy Unoentrecienmil” is to raise awareness about the vital role of research in ending this disease. Children who have lived through this illness, their families, their doctors and other researchers testify that, with just a little help from many, we could change the world.

Nacida en España en 1974, la actriz Penélope Cruz triunfa con Almodóvar, Amenábar y Fernando Trueba en España y se traslada a Hollywood, California. Ganó un Oscar, convirtiéndose en la primera actriz española en hacerlo, por su actuación en la película “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”, además obtuvo nominaciones por “Volver” y “Nine”. Tras dirigir campañas publicitarias para L´Agent Provocateur, en 2016 debuta como directora de cine con el cortometraje documental “Soy Unoentrecienmil”.
